UPGRADE DURING ONLINE CHECK-IN
Eligible passengers may do last-minute upgrades during online check-in within 24 hours before flight departure.

How does Upgrade at Check-in work?


When you’re ready to check-in, access the Online Check-in tab on the PAL website, enter your booking reference and last name and you may either choose to Upgrade or proceed to check-in. If you choose to offer an Upgrade, you will be redirected to the Offer page and follow these easy steps:

Step 1 – Make and Offer

Select the Upgrade option and Offer amount for the eligible flight segment

Step 2 – Enter your credit card details

We will only charge your credit card with the Offer amount specified in the Offer page, plus all applicable taxes and fees (if any), once you are successfully upgraded. You will also need to enter a valid email address which we will use to communicate with you about your Offer.

Step 3 – Review and Submit       

Check that all information is correct and then submit.

Are all my flights eligible for an Upgrade?

You can only make an Offer to the flight segment/s indicated in the Offer page.

Can I choose the price that I want to Offer for an Upgrade?

Passengers are presented with a fixed price per person per flight segment for an Upgrade during online check-in.

Is the Upgrade Offer for all passengers in the booking?

Your Offer is for all the passengers included in the booking.  The Offer Amount shown in the Offer page would indicate how much you are willing to pay for all passengers in the booking. 

What are the acceptable forms of payment to pay for the upgrade?

myPAL Upgrade at Check-in accepts Visa, Mastercard, JCB and American Express on select routes.

How do I know if I am upgraded? 

You will immediately get confirmation of a successful or an unsuccessful upgrade.  An e-mail shall be sent to the e-mail address indicated in the Offer page containing the details of the paid upgrade.

Can I check-in immediately once I get upgraded?

You can proceed to check in online as soon as you receive the successful upgrade notification.

What do I need to present upon check in so the agent would know that I am upgraded?


No need to present any documents, the system will be updated once your upgrade is successful.

Can I choose a seat in the upgraded cabin?

The system will automatically assign a seat in the upgraded cabin. If you have a preferred seat, you may inquire with the check-in counter agent if it is available upon check-in.

Can I modify or cancel my Offer?

Modification or cancellation of the Offer is not permitted once the Offer is submitted.

What happens if the flight for which I was upgraded is cancelled?

If your flight is cancelled due to airline’s fault, the upgrade amount and applicable taxes may be refunded in full.

UPGRADE DURING CHECK-IN AT THE AIRPORT

Who can purchase an upgrade to Business Class or Premium Economy / Comfort Class?

Revenue passengers holding confirmed tickets of certain booking class codes can avail of an instant upgrade at the airport at least 4 hours before the flight. Passengers with ID50, AD50 and Mabuhay Miles Award Tickets are not qualified to avail of Airport Upgrade.

If you decide to upgrade, your previously paid myPAL Seat Select Extra Legroom, Forward Seat, or Aisle Seat  will be forfeited.

Are Airport Upgrades refundable?

Payment for airport upgrades are refundable only if flight disruptions occur and are caused by the airline.

Terms and Conditions

UPGRADE DURING ONLINE CHECK-IN

The following Terms and Conditions shall apply to all submission of offers (“Offer”) made by a Passenger or his/her representative to Philippine Airlines (“PAL”) under myPAL Upgrade program.  An Offer provides the Passenger(s) an opportunity to upgrade from originally booked class of service to a higher class of service. 

1. Tickets must be issued using Philippine Airlines document on 079.
 
2. Any person who submits an Offer on behalf of another passenger is deemed to have been authorized by the Passenger(s) for whom the Offer is being made. Consequently, the Passenger(s) shall be bound by these Terms and Conditions. PAL may or may not require any proof of such authorization. 

3. Passengers holding the following tickets are not eligible for myPAL Upgrade:

  1. Award tickets of any and all frequent flyer programs;
  2. Denied boarding tickets;
  3. ID/AD tickets;
  4. Unaccompanied minor;
  5. Bookings with 10 or more passengers under one (1) Booking Reference or Record Locator;
  6. Bookings with one or more of the passengers on Medical Case (“MEDA”);
  7. Bookings with Infant;
  8. Codeshare flights; except codeshare flights with and/or operated by PAL express or Air Philippines Corp.;
  9. Charter flights except as otherwise identified by PAL;
  10. And all other non-revenue tickets

4.    myPAL Upgrade may be availed only on specific fares, flights, destinations, and/or travel dates as may be identified by PAL at its sole and absolute discretion (“Eligible Flight”).

5.    Passenger or his/her representative can make an Offer by:

  1. following the instructions on the link provided in the email or SMS inviting the Passenger to make an Offer for an Upgrade; or
  2. following the immediate invitation on the booking confirmation page after completion of an online booking transaction; or
  3. visiting myPAL Upgrade website at www.philippineairlines.com/myPAL-Travel-Boost/myPAL-Upgrade by following the instructions therein; or
  4. going to the myPAL Upgrade under Manage My Booking tab at the PAL Corporate website; or
  5. following the link provided in the Booking Confirmation e-mail
  6. clicking the upgrade invite during online check-in

6. PAL is under no obligation to accept an Offer and does not guarantee that a Passenger will be upgraded by making an Offer.

7. If more than one passenger exists in the Booking Reference or Record Locator, the Offer shall be applicable to all passengers in the booking. The Offer amount shall apply on a per passenger basis and is the same for both adult and child passenger(s).

8. The Offer to upgrade is in addition to the original ticket price.  The Offer a Passenger can make depends on the flight, destination and economy fare paid.

9. Two ways to submit an Offer:

  1. Offer may be submitted for each eligible flight of a Passenger up to twenty-four (24) hours prior to the flight’s standard time of departure
  2. Passenger may also submit an Offer to upgrade up to four (4) hours prior to flight’s standard time of departure during online check-in

10.  All Offers submitted may be accepted by PAL anytime up to four (4) hours prior to the flight’s standard time of departure.    

11.  An Acknowledgement of an Offer will be sent to the email address provided by the Passenger which includes the total Offer Amount and all additional taxes and fees, if applicable, for all Passenger/s in the booking.

12.  The Offer can only  be modified or cancelled solely by the Passenger or his/her Representative any time from submission until twenty-four (24) hours prior to the flight’s standard time of departure provided that the Offer has not been accepted by PAL and the Passenger’s or his/her representative’s credit card has not been charged. 

13.  Once the Offer is accepted, the Offer can no longer be modified and cancelled.  The Passenger is obligated to complete the payment of the price stated in the original offer. 

14.  Credit card details shall be collected upon submission of the Offer. An authorization hold amount of one (1) US Dollar or its equivalent in Philippine Peso (PHP) shall be placed on the card account to verify if the credit card is active. The authorization hold amount is not a charge and will not appear on the cardholder’s billing statement.  

15.  The payment for the Upgrade shall be charged automatically once the Offer is accepted. Each Offer can only be paid using a single credit card.

If accepted, the Offer plus any applicable fees and/or charges may appear on the credit card statement of account as “Phil Airlines Upgrade”.

16.  A notification of “Successful Upgrade” will be sent to the email address provided by the passenger not which includes the Offer Amount and all additional taxes and fees, if applicable, for all Passenger(s) in the booking

17.  A notification of “Unsuccessful Upgrade” will be sent to the email address provided by the passenger for Offers not accepted later than twelve (12) hours prior to the standard time of departure for Offers not accepted.

18.  Upon acceptance of the Offer, myPAL Upgrade Passenger(s) may be eligible to the services and benefits corresponding to the class for which the Offer was accepted except as otherwise provided in these terms and conditions, and such services and benefits shall only be applicable to the flight for which the Offer has been accepted. 

19.  In the event of change in flight schedule for which an Offer has been made but not yet accepted by PAL, the Offer shall be invalidated and will no longer be considered for acceptance. Passenger may resubmit an Offer for the new flight schedule.

20.  myPAL Upgrade is non-transferable and non-endorsable.

21.  The accepted Offer paid is non-refundable, except when there is a legal or valid cause, such as but not limited to operational safety and security concerns and such other cases as may be determined by PAL in accordance with its General Conditions of Carriage, applicable laws, rules and regulations.

22.  Any voluntary downgrade shall result to forfeiture of the accepted Offer paid.

23.  In case the Passenger(s) voluntarily rebooks or refunds his/her economy ticket, the accepted Offer paid for the upgrade shall be forfeited.  Passenger who voluntarily changed his flight will not be entitled to a refund for the upgrade and the upgrade entitlement cannot be transferred to a flight at another date/time.

24.  A Passenger(s) eligible for a refund agrees to submit the following proof of travel for the flight in question through mypalupgrade@pal.com.ph:

- Boarding Pass; and

- Confirmation Email of Successful Upgrade

25.  Should any refund be approved, it will be processed in the currency in which the Upgrade amount was charged. Refund amount shall be charged back to the credit card used for payment of the Upgrade. Any and all charges associated with the refund, such as but not limited to, bank fees and foreign exchange losses, shall be for account of the Passenger(s).

26.  The fare conditions of the original ticket purchased by the Passenger(s) shall remain in effect whether or not the Offer is accepted. 

27.  myPAL Upgrade Passenger(s) shall be entitled to full Economy Class mileage accrual.

28.  myPAL Upgrade Business Class passengers shall be entitled to lounge access.  

29.  myPAL Upgrade passenger shall also be entitled to the Free Baggage Allowance (FBA) of the upgraded class of service.  

30.  Paid Choice Seats shall be forfeited once the Offer has been accepted.

31.  Paid Meal Upgrade shall be forfeited once the Offer has been accepted. 

32.  Prepaid Baggage purchased prior to acceptance of the Offer may be carried over to the upgraded flight segment.

33.  PAL reserves the right to modify and otherwise change these Terms and Conditions without prior notice, subject to applicable laws, rules and regulations. These Terms and Conditions shall be read in conjunction with PAL's General Conditions of Carriage, Disclaimer, Mabuhay Miles Terms and Conditions, Data Privacy & Security Policy, Online Booking Terms and Conditions, and other applicable laws, rules and regulations.

34.  By making an Offer to myPAL Upgrade, Passenger(s) acknowledges, understands, and accepts the full Terms and Conditions of the program.

 

UPGRADE DURING CHECK-IN AT THE AIRPORT

BUSINESS CLASS UPGRADE


1.  Business Class Upgrade Fee can be availed by any revenue passenger (adult, child or infant with seat) holding confirmed tickets on any Philippine Airlines (PR) flight.

2.  Business Class Upgrade may only be availed at a fixed price at least four (4) hours before estimated time of departure (BETD) at the airport.

3.  Business Class Upgrade may only be availed on specific booking class codes or fares as may be identified by PAL.

4.  Business Class Upgrade cannot be availed in connection to any Industry Discount and Agency Discount, Mabuhay Miles Award tickets.

5.  Business Class Upgrade may only be availed per flight at the point of origin.

6.  Passengers who availed of Business Class Upgrade are entitled to lounge access.

7.  Passengers who availed of Business Class Upgrade shall be entitled to the Free Baggage Allowance (FBA) of Business Class.

8.  Passengers who avail of Business Class Upgrade shall be entitled to mileage accrual of their original Economy Class ticket.

9.  myPAL Seat Select Extra Legroom, Forward Seat, and Aisle Seat Reservation shall be forfeited in case of Business Class Upgrade.

10.  Paid myPAL Flavors product shall also be forfeited in case of Business Class Upgrade.

11.  PWD discount and Senior Citizen discount applies on Business Class Upgrade on domestic flights.

12.  Business Class Upgrade is non-refundable, except when there is a legal or valid cause, such as but not limited to operational safety and security concerns and such other cases as may be determined by PAL in accordance with its General Conditions of Carriage, applicable laws, rules and regulations.
